Visitor Essentials: What You Need to Know

A motorway toll enforcement camera system in the Czech Republic.

The Czech Republic uses an automatic camera system to scan license plates on motorways. If a valid digital vignette is not linked to your plate, you can be fined up to 20,000 CZK on the spot. Our guide helps you prevent this by clarifying the official process.

The system is fully digital. You will not receive a physical sticker. Your proof is the email confirmation you receive after purchase. Keep it saved on your phone or printed; authorities can verify your vignette status instantly by scanning your license plate.

The vignette is required for passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes. Motorcycles and trailers are exempt. Certain eco-friendly vehicles (EVs, hydrogen) may also be exempt after registration with the official authorities. Always check the latest regulations if unsure.
